On the Scene Reports
The 2007 St. Andrew El Salvador Mission
Day 5: Oct. 23rd, 2007

This spectacular view of Izalco is what we get to drive past each day. Although, until today, we have not been able to see the volcano because of the clouds and rain.

Hilberto is a local guy who we have hired to help us with the foundation of the new school building.

Bob Jones and Gary Stein can been seen here working with Hilberto and a local villager on one of the walls for the new school.

Michael Irvine and Erick spent most of the day on the roof replacing screws and plugging up holes. We had to secure some of the metal that makes up the awning but because there are no supports we had to have Erick hang over the edge of the building with Michael holding his ankles and David Irvine and Dave Haflich supporting him with a post from underneath.

Toward the end of the day our crew began to help Hilberto and his crew. Cathy Collier and Kitty Brenek are working on their journeymen status.
