On the Scene Reports
The 2007 St. Andrew El Salvador Mission
Day 6: Oct. 24th, 2007

One of the first tasks of Day 6 was to move the block we had stored at the bottom of the village. The block was delivered on Monday but the road has been impassible until today so we had to wait to move the block.

Cathy Collier jumped right in with the group of local men to help mix the concrete. We wouldn't expect anything less from Mike Collier's wife.

Most all of the team members helped mix concrete and mortar at some point today. David Irvine can be seen here filling up a bucket with concrete.

Michael Irvine is using the bucket filled with concrete to fill the walls of the new school house.

Kitty Brenek, or Señorita Gata as she is known locally, was working hard sifting sand to be used in the concrete and mortar mixtures.

Gary Stein worked with local masons to place the block that will make up the walls of the new school.

The kids in the village have nicknamed Bob Jones 'Santa Claus.' After we told Fray Mucci of Agape this he asked Bob if he could sit on his lap. In case any of you are wondering, Fray Mucci wants a ball for Christmas.

We all had the great pleasure of meeting with Fray Mucci, the founder of Agape, this afternoon. We talked to Fray Mucci about our project and about all the work that he and his foundation do in El Salvador. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we were all very inspired by our meeting with Fray Mucci.
