Attendees: Rich Gantenbein (pastor and moderator), Fred Nielsen, Pat Ingram, Jim MacFarlan, Kathleen Hawing, Jim Morgan, Bill Dempsey, Jerry Sanden.
Absent: Sylvia Bernard, Caryn Prince, Molly Irvine.
Also present: Don Minor (clerk of session), Pam Gibson.
Meeting called to order at 7:08 P.M. by the moderator, Rich Gantenbein, with an opening prayer by all present. Galatians 5:22-23 was read and all present discussed: the gift you want God to build in your life and why.
A quorum was present.
Major Issues:
Review of 2004-2005 Budget: The proposed budget was presented by Pam Gibson. The budget is balanced. A list of budget assumptions was also presented and discussed.
A few changes were recommended:
- if revenue falls short any changes in payroll must be approved by session instead of being automatic,
- a fund raising committee consisting of Kathleen Hawing, Pam Gibson, and Judy Morgan was appointed,
- major expenses (more than $1000.00), even if in the budget, need to be communicated to the treasurer ahead of time.
It was also recommended that a staff committee assess the medical benefits provided.
MSC to approve the proposed budget.
A request was sent to the Finance Committee to provide a cash flow report on a quarterly basis.
MSC to adopt as guidelines the budget assumptions, as modified above, with final outline to be presented at the next meeting.
Congregational Meeting: It was decided that the annual congregational meeting will be on September 19, 2004. At that time the annual reports will be presented, the budget reviewed, and the Church Officer Nominating Committee will be elected.
Clerk's Report:
MSC to approve the minutes for the June 29, 2004 session meeting.
Operations:
There were no new building contracts to review.
Other Business:
A new member's class will start on September 12, 2004 and run for six weeks.
