Green Tip #39 – “Laundry Hang Out”

One of my earliest cozy memories as a very young person was playing on my Aunt Meno’s back porch as she hung out the laundry on her laundry line with a pulley system. I’d be playing with my stuffed animals as she squeak, squeak, squeaked the laundry up the line. Her sheets were always crispy clean, a little stiff at first and smelled so good.

As a grown up, I’ve tried to do as she did. Doug and my son David fixed us a pulley system laundry line as soon as we moved into our new home in 2000. I really like it. I still like the squeak, squeak, squeak. I’m sure it saves us money and the earth’s precious resources.

I’m not sure if my whites are as white as Meno’s were, but it still feels good to sun dry our laundry. When the weather is good, I’d like to encourage you to do the same, if you don’t already.
