Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection

Because of DOT regulations, the amount of HHW that can be taken at a time to the HHW facility at the Central Landfill is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds. The volumetric limit applies to all liquids and is measured by the size of the container, not by the contents of the container. For this reason, the Green Team is asking that your HHW liquids be limited to about 5 gallons.

As alternatives, HHW Collections Events are scheduled in Sonoma on Tuesdays 5/28, 8/27 and 11/12. Reservations are required at zerowastesonoma.gov starting 2 months in advance.

The list of acceptable HHW items is extensive. See list of OK to bring here.
